WHAT IS THE
ROCHESTER KIWANIS HOCKEY FESTIVAL?

This Hockey Festival is a joint fund raising project between the four Kiwanis clubs in Rochester MN.  Our major tournament sponsor is the Kiwanis Clubs of Rochester, however, we are always interested and supportive of a local business or organization who wish to support the hockey festival at the "Major Sponsor" level. Contact the individuals listed below if your organization is interested in supporting this great Rochester holiday event.

We are now into our 30th year of sponsoring the festival which is held between Christmas and New Year’s. With room for twenty-four (24) teams we have hosted teams from Minnesota, Indiana, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa  in the festival. The games are played at Rochester's Graham Arena Complex in SE Rochester (directions and a map are included in the "Location and Map" section on this website).

Besides great hockey play during the festival, there is entertainment from local youth hockey, high school bands, and members of the Rochester Figure Skating Club. There are local and nationally recognized hockey personalities at many of the games and of course there are the ever popular concessions.

It is all about the kids and the Rochester Community . . .

The 4 Rochester Area Kiwanis Clubs have been very accommodating to the local and visiting hockey teams, coaches, parents and the fans. The event is considered one of the premier tournament opportunities for high school hockey. The festival has no required entry fees as many other tournaments do, and the local Kiwanis organizations cover all the expenses for ice rental, availability of medical services, referees, announcers and scorekeepers.

In the past 30 years of sponsoring the Kiwanis Hockey Festival, we have contributed over $770,000 to our local youth and community projects. Local hockey facilities and Youth Hockey have also been large benefactors! We have also made significant contributions to important Kiwanis International World Service Projects.

In addition to the revenue raised from the festival, the Rochester Chamber of Commerce has estimated that the economic impact to the hotels, restaurants, theaters, gift shops and unique Rochester attractions exceeds $200,000 each year.

A festival of this magnitude requires a significant amount of planning and many willing workers. Our festival committee meets monthly throughout the year to plan and organize the festival. Over 100 volunteers are required to support the festival during the three day tournament. All together over 1800 volunteer hours are expended through the year planning and executing this event.

The Kiwanis Hockey Festival is SE Minnesota’s premier high school hockey tournament. We hope to see you there and would be pleased if you could help us produce an even better Festival next year.
